​Each year, CAEA recognizes those who create a lasting impression on students through Visual Arts Education, recognizing exemplary Art Educators and Administrators throughout Connecticut.
                    The categories are:
                         • Elementary Art Educator
                         • Middle Level Art Educator
                         • Secondary Art Educator
                         • Art Supervisor and/or Administrator
                         • Higher Education Art Educator
                         • Museum Art Educator
                         • Outstanding Connecticut Art Educator of The Year Award
                         • Distinguished Cooperating Teacher or Mentor
                         • Special Needs Art Educator
                         • Outstanding NAHS or NAJHA Sponsor
                         • John Nerreau, Retired Art Educator
                         • Distinguished Service to the Profession
                         • Scott Shuler Distinguished Art Advocate

Objectives:
In its awards program the Connecticut Art Education Association annually recognizes outstanding teaching and contributions to art education at all levels. Your participation in this important recognition process showcases Connecticut art educators and those contributing to art education in our state.                             
  • To recognize and celebrate excellence in the state's art educators;
  • To increase statewide awareness of the importance of quality art education for all learners;
  • To promote standards for quality art education and their achievement; 
  • To promote professional opportunities for CÆA/NAEA members.

Nominees for these awards must be members of CAEA for a minimum of 3 years. They must be active art educators who spend at least 51% of their working day in the job division for which they were nominated. The exception to the 51% job division rule includes the Special Needs Art Educator of the Year, Retired Art Educator of the Year, Distinguished Service Outside the Profession and 
 
Members of the CAEA Board of Directors (elected or appointed) and CAEA Committee Chairs are ineligible to be nominated while in office. In the event that a nominee joins the CAEA Board of Directors between the close of award nominations in July and when awards are reviewed in August they are still eligible for an award.
